Where this coffee comes from
Our Colombian Supremo grows high in the lush green mountains at a family run estate outside of Pereira, in the heart of Colombia's coffee axis. The farmer is a fourth generation grower and the care shows in the lot. The beans are hand selected by a certified Q grader and imported directly into our Miami roasting facility, where every batch is roasted in a CCOF Certified Organic facility.
Supremo vs Excelso
Colombian coffee is graded by bean size. Supremo is the largest screen grade, Excelso is a step smaller. Larger, denser beans roast more evenly, which is a big part of why this cup comes out so balanced.
How to brew it
Grind fresh right before you brew. About 1 to 2 tablespoons per 6 oz of water, or roughly 60 g per litre, water between 195 and 205°F.
- Drip: medium grind, 1:16 coffee to water
- Pour over: medium-fine grind, 30 second bloom
- French press: coarse grind, 4 minute steep
- Espresso: fine grind, 18 g in, 36 g out
Questions we get asked
What does Colombian Supremo taste like?
Balanced and smooth. Expect citrus brightness up front, a soft banana sweetness, and a cocoa finish. It is not a sharp or acidic coffee.
Is this organic Colombian coffee?
Yes. USDA Certified Organic and Fair Trade, roasted in a CCOF Certified Organic facility under the USDA National Organic Program.
Whole bean or ground?
Whole bean. Ground coffee loses most of its aroma within days, so we ship beans and let you grind fresh.
How long will a 1 lb bag last?
Roughly 30 to 45 cups. Most specialty bags are 12 oz, so this one goes about a third further for the same money.
Is it gluten free and non-GMO?
Yes. Coffee is naturally gluten free and organic certification prohibits GMOs.
